Many Workhouse’s marked the
start of their grounds, the start of
the workhouse stay with a
symbolic entrance that often
became synonymous. For example
Birmingham’s workhouse entrance
was know of ‘the arch way of
Tears’.
Building upon the classical
vocabulary chosen to code the
Workhouse I introduced a
Triumphal Arch to act as the
projects ‘arch way of tears’. The
Triumphal arch additionally
commemorated the beginning of
the nation entering the credit
crunch.
